Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran was a businesswoman, investor and speaker from the United American. The Corcoran Group is a New York-based real estate brokerage. In 2001, the company was sold to NRT at $66 million. Corcoran left the company shortly after. One of the show's original "Shark" investors, Corcoran has appeared in all 12 seasons of ABC's Shark Tank to date. Corcoran has been involved in 53 deals as of February 2020. The most significant was a $350,000 investment that will cover 40% of Coverplay. Corcoran was the second child of 10 from a family of Irish Catholics who worked hard, was born in Edgewater in New Jersey. Her mother, Florence, was a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father. He was constantly moving between jobs and another throughout Corcoran’s childhood. The family relied on food delivered by a friendly local grocer for free food. Corcoran still remembers her father as someone who drank often and did not treat her mother with respect. Corcoran struggled in school, and she was later told she was dyslexic. Corcoran went to a Catholic primary school within her community and began the high school year in St. Cecilia High School, Englewood. Corcoran graduated from Leonia High School with a degree in English after not completing several classes in her freshman years.
